I will always grab my go to jeans. It's almost like wearing a security blanket. You know that you'll look good and be comfortable at the same time. So when you are desperately trying to find something to wear, that doesn't look like you've tried too hard- build your look around your favorite pair of denims. That is the exact thing that I did to put this look together.

Right now I'm in the mood for a little bit of doom and gloom and the accessories truly reflect that. I love this take of a classic cameo, and the earthy element of a glittery stone in a pitch black setting in the bracelet. What girl doesn't love a little gold, and I couldn't pass up the opportunity to add in a little animal print in the shoes and the reptile look in the clutch.

Pick of the Day: Sneak Peek Into Fall

Picks of the Day

Forever21
Cozy Knit Cardigan $12.50

Lulus.com
Ots and Evens Lovely Brick Red Top $38.00

GoJane.com
Pleated High-Low Skirt $33.40

As if you couldn't tell :) I'm in the mood for Fall. I've had it up to here with the humidity. I'm longing for the start of cooler days when wearing anything knit is a uniform. I love the cardigan above for the sheerness of it, so that I may wear it now and then layered later this year. The details in the brick blouse is what got me. Wearing it now with a tank underneath and then layering it with a black long sleeve come fall of a mod look. Pleated skirts aren't going anywhere for awhile and it just might be the time I invest in one. The hemline is what sets this apart from all others. I can see myself wearing color tights underneath come Fall or tall boats.

So are you like me and looking forward to the new Fall season?

Catching Up

Long time, no write. It has been an eventful yet unspectacular couple of weeks. Let me run down the highlights of the past few days.

1. Saw the last Harry Potter film with the fam.
2. Bought a lovely green jumpsuit from H&M and was rewarded with a 20% off coupon for my next purchase.

3.Went riding around the desert in a buggy.

4. Fun day at Venice beach ending with lunch from Tito's Tacos.

5. Returned the two tops I recently purchased through Forever21.com
seen here

6. Visited my local Borders to see if I can get a good buy. I came across a graphic novel of the Last Unicorn. Do you remember the 80's film?

7. Now for the grand finale... Supervising the instillation of my new front door. As with all things, it is taking a lot longer to finish then what was previously purposed (sigh).
As far as outfits of the day, I'm sorry that they have been lacking. I just haven't been feeling much in the way of dressing up. I'm sure that you'll be uninspired by my jeans and tees that I'm so fond of wearing these days. Crossing my fingers that the day will come around soon that I feel like donning on a nice frock for you.

In the mean time thanks for reading and being so patient with my posts. Up next, some picks of the day.

New ULTA Store in Redondo Beach

Running around doing errands I have been spying the new Ulta store being built in my hood. Today i noticed the grand opening sign and knew I had to check it out. They were fully stocked with all the things you would want from your local make-up and drug store. From makeup brands such as Benefit, LORAC, SmashBox, to NYX they have you covered. I was also surprised to find so many hair tools, blow dryers, curling wands, and straighteners. To my delight they have a salon in the back of the store. Yay, a new place to get my hair cut :) If you are still interested in the Urban Decay Naked palette they have it.

I walked away with shampoo and conditioner that I've been wanting to try. I know that this brand I can pick up at my local Target or drug store, but Ulta had a sale of buy 1 get the 2nd half off.

I have tried and reviewed the coconut one (seen here). I will be doing the same with this one soon.

Since it was the grand opening and I have yet to sign up for their rewards card, I did so during my purchase. As a gift, the check out woman stuck an Ulta bag in with my purchase. I didn't peek in it till I got home. Boy, was I thrilled.

The packaged contained an ULTA 2 fl.oz. body wash in Blackberry Cream, ULTA professional nail lacquer in Downtown Diva, ULTA eye makeup remover pen, and a Philosophy travel pack w/ 1 fl.oz. of Purity (face wash), 1 fl.oz. of the microdelievery exfoliating wash, and .4 fl.oz. of keep the peace protective color corrector.

I was so ecstatic that my giddiness was contagious and my brother was even happy that I scored these goodies. If you live down my way in So. Cal I urge you to check out the new ULTA store, who knows what you'll walk away with.

Loop of the Day

This song is so unbelievably catchy. I find myself whistling this tune, or at least trying to every now and then. I don't care what people say, whistling on key is hard.

How is everyone's week coming along? It's been one of those weeks for me, that seem to go by so slowly and the weekend can't get here fast enough. I am looking forward to Friday and seeing the last Harry Potter film with my mom and brother. We were talking about this the other day. Those films speak to a whole generation that grew up with it. It will be something they will share with their kids. I'm not immune to the frenzy, I own all the films and waiting for the last one so I can start reading the novels. I know that you are suppose to do it the other way around, but I found that I don't want to be disappointed by the film's interpretation of the books. So I'll wait.

The Captain America film is out this Friday too. That will just have to wait till next week for me to catch it in the theaters. I think only now, technology is capable of bring super heroes to life in the most honest way honoring the comics in which they stem from.

O.k., guys and dolls. I wish you all a wondrous day and I'll be catching you on the flip side. Ha ha, who says that anymore?

You Can't Pull Me Away From A Good Thing

Floral Lace Bustier $17.80

Pleated Peplum Top $22.80
High Rise Corduroy Hot Short $17.80

Cancun Vacation Cami $12.50

Gradated Leopard Contrast Top $15.80

 Paisley Filigree Earrings $4.80

Gothic Panel Ring $4.80

Simply Cute Tennis Shoes $5.50

I'm not sure I have a signature style. Looking at these items I can see I'm all around the board, from 50's pinup, to 20's glamour, 70's sufer, 80's vacay, to a more modern grey tunic. I have been really trying to give myself a monthly clothing allowance and really sticking to it. This is an accumulation of things I've purchased last month and this month. You are still able to buy these on the site, and to let you know the cami also comes in white and red and the tennis shoes come in 7 different colors. When I wear something in a post I'll start referencing my hauls. I tend to shop at places that I can get the most style for my money with out having to pay extra for alterations. For now, places like Forever21 are my go to on price and fit.

Feeling Like a Slub

The weather has been mild out here near the coast. I can survive the mid 70's as long as we have off shore breezes. I'm trying to get all my errands done in the beginning of the week, so that I can have a leisurely start to the weekend. Playing Portal 2 all afternoon, certainly doesn't help me accomplish that :) What I have successfully started doing is clearing out my closet. About time, right?

Now that I've made some room in my closet, I have been doing a little shopping here and there. I'm not sure if the collective haul videos are working for me or if it isn't better just to show what I purchase in an OOTD. What do you think?

Today was just a day at home and I wanted to wear something comfy, just not my pajamas. The open knit sweater and olive green slub shorts were both purchased at F21. I know that it must seem that I'm the poster child for them. What can I say, the clothes fit me well :) I think that I purchase my black Chuck's through Tilly's and I am looking for a black shoe to replace them soon. Any recommendations?

Here are a few photos of my in-laws pond that I was able to take over the weekend.

Portal 2

Welcome to the Enrichment Center- Victims of Science

My brother and I have been spending at least a day a week playing Portal 2. I'm not one for first person games because I would categorize myself as uncoordinated. I tend to shy away from games like these because I have an inner ear problem where I can get dizzy watching fast movement on t.v., or 3D films on the big screen.

So how is it that I can play this and not feel sick? I don't have to move fast to dodge bullets, or roll around to avoid hand grenades. The premise of the game is problem solving through trials using portal devices.

Since we have been playing as a team which forces you to work together. Aaron and I both been elated at figuring out a trial and giving one another high fives. To totally yelling at one another arguing who's idea is better at solving the puzzle. I think that I've enjoyed this so much because it just doesn't have us staring at the t.v. in our own little worlds but have us interacting with one another as a team.

I'm not much of a gamer, but this one has my number. It's a good thing that I don't own this game just yet because the house has to be burning down around me to pry me away from it.

Hats (for) Fall

 Gucci- $495.00
 Alloy- $24.90

Forever21- $8.99

I have been slowly falling in love, which we all know that it will be a lasting, soul-mate kind of love over this hat. The Gucci hat has been on my radar since the Fall show. Since it's a bit out of my price range I have been on a look out for something similar. Maybe I can DIY using feathers or I'll just hold out for something better to come along.

Peaches

I did it! I had my first Outfit of the Day photo taken for the week. I know I suck, but I always have the best intentions. You do what they say about intentions? Now that I have patted myself on my back, with out breaking an arm. How is everyone's week coming along? My brother and I went to have lunch off of Main Street, El Segundo yesterday. Silly me, I never put back my memory stick in my camera (sigh). That was yesterday and today is today. Here is what I'm wearing...

Blouse- CottonOn; Jeans- OldNavy; Wedges- SODA; Belt & Sunglasses- F21
If you are wondering what is behind my back, I have my car keys in my hand. Knowing myself, if I set them down I would loose them. That's what happens when you have worst short term memory ever.

Thanks for visiting me guys and dolls. I appreciate the support in following my blog and all the comments that you leave behind.
