Wish List

It's the one time of the year that you may get what your heart desires. Only if it can be bought. I have been on a mission to shop for all things home for the past few months. I haven't even allowed myself to look through clothing site, LookBook, or (sorry to say) my fave personal style blogs. I know, I know, shame on me. It is even reflecting on the clothes that I wear. My daily uniform of jeans, a blouse, and boots.

Last night I found some time on my hands and found a pair of shoes. I've been dying for a pair of Litas, I just can't _____. You name it I just CAN'T. These cute little babies, are around $40, including shipping. I jumped for joy in my seat, and found myself a little giddy.

I also bought for myself, a little Merry Christmas to me a record stand. I have been drooling over it for the past few weeks. Last night I found out that they are on back order. It sent me in a panic, that means that some time soon the would be sold out. I jumped on it with arms wide open. It would look so cute in our new sitting room.

To go along with the stand I have been looking for a new record player. I really like the look of a vintage portable player. Crosley has a wide variety to choose from, and all have great customer reviews. This one in perticular has my heart. Crossing my fingers that I will be opening a package with it contained soon.

Pick of the Day: Serendipitous

I really need to be saving the green to furnish my new place. I just couldn't pass up this shrug. I'm so happy that I've bypassed a  million, gazillion ones I've seen on the web and at the mall. I've been obsessing over this cross-stitch print before, I think it was in the Spring. I first saw it as a wall decal on someone's blog, I just can't remember at the moment. That with the combination of wanting to own a black base floral print item for awhile now, this is serendipitous.

I've also been in love with the runway looks for S/S 2012. The high waisted black shorts seem to be the one item that was a must have for me. These are great with the clean fronts and the high nipped in waist.

Pick of the Day: My Girl is Red Hot

Blazers are here to stay. Wither they be cropped, long, striped, floral, buttoned, tied, or open they have become a basic. A basic to wear with jeans, slacks, skirts, dresses, and even shorts. What a better way to pull together a tee and jean combo. How many black blazers must you have? Every season has the color to have. We've seen blush, yellow, and navy. I've been holding out for something more eye catching. Patience has it's rewards. I've found the perfect one to add to my wardrobe.

It's the cropped open front blazer from GoJane.com for $24.50. What makes it the ideal blazer for me? This red is the punch of color I need for my Fall wardrobe, complimenting all my neutrals. A fitted blazer is always flattering with my curves. With the oversize-boy cut blazers, I just look shorter and chubbier. I'm loving the soft curves, and shirred sleeve details. It's all about the details in this one. The topping to my sundae? It's hand washable, no need to send this one to the dry cleaners. Oooh, how I hate spending money there (shaking my fist). F.Y.I., the blazer is also sold in black. Can't wait to show you guys in a post.

Head Over Heels for a Pair of Docs

As a kid I dreamed of owning a pair of Dr.Martens. For the price, you know that there were only a hand full of girls that owned a pair. The ones that did were sooo cool and intimidating. They looked like they couldn't give a sh*t about anything. I so wanted to be one of them. The boots that I coveted were Ox Blood, the taller the better.

For some reason the newest versions are not the deep red that I loved from long ago.

I don't know about you, but it's hard for me to pull the trigger and buy myself a $100+ pair of shoes. I know that I should look at them as an investment, something to have forever. A few years back I did it, and bought a pair of black 1914 Triumph, with pink tartan lining. I love the idea that they are fashioned after a motorcycle boot and can be worn short with the lining being shown.

I can't tell you how ecstatic I felt that day receiving them in the post. They came with the standard black laces, and a black ribbon lace with pink tips. Since then I have worn them with jeans, leggings, skirts, dresses- everything!

The first couple of times I wore them, they weren't as comfortable as I thought they would be. Just like any boot, I needed a breaking in period. Now, they are amazingly dreamy and fit like a glove. I kid you not, they feel like they were made for me. How many times did it take to break in? I would say it by the 4th time I fell in love.

With any leather good, you have to take care of it if you want it to last a life time. Along with the boot I purchased the Dr.Martens Wonder Balm. That has been the best moisturizer, protectant I have ever used to date. I'm thinking of using it on all my leather, faux and real alike. 

This season Docs came out with different colors and finishes for the 1914 Triumph boot. There is not one that I don't like.

I'm not one for redundancy so I think I'll pass on purchasing the same boot, just in a different color. The boot that I am loving right this moment? The 1B99 Modern Classic in Peacock. I've been in admiration of this shade of blue for a few years now. Not many shoes come in this color and I totally regret not buying a pair of flats when I saw them. I'm certainly not going to let these babies pass me buy this time.

So it's official, I am addicted to Dr.Martens. Just like potato chips, I can't have just one. Adam called it, in saying that I would spend a chunk of my first paycheck on a pair of Docs. Sigh, at least I'll be able to wear them to work :)

Pick of the Day: Leatherette Shorts

Have you been anticipating leather shorts since the beginning of summer? I know I have. My fascination was getting really bad as I was looking through eBay and ETSY on a daily basis. Then we received word that H&M were coming out with a black pair for Fall. Who ever their forecaster is should have known that they would sell out in a heartbeat. I missed my chance and couldn't get my hands on a pair. 

Yesterday as always I was reading through many fashionable blogs and stumbled on to one that featured a leatherette pair of shorts. If you are unfamiliar with the term "leatherette", it's the same as "pleather" (plastic leather). I think they changed it to make it sound more luxurious. Since the blogger is petite and they were high waisted, she had cinched it with a belt. Now I don't know if that was out of necessity or not, but the shorts had fit her well. 

With short shorts, it's difficult not to come off as too sexy. I think these shorts solve the dilemma by having a higher waist that balances out the length.

To have it more wearable for the day I would pair it with a looser T, blouse, or sweater. When it starts to get even colder in the mornings you can wear it with tights. The best part of this particular pair of shorts, it comes in 3 more colors- Burgundy, Olive, Teal

I have always liked a more of a vintage feel to my clothes so I picked the burgundy pair to purchase. I think they would look great with jewel tones and neutrals this coming season.

I received my coat in the post yesterday and I can't wait for the weather to change so I can debut it for you. FYI- the coat has a cute lace trim at the end of the sleeves that are barely noticeable, but still a cute detail. In the mean time I had put together a set to show one of the many ways I would wear it. For my go-to, everyday wear this outfit would be it. I love the layers, and living in So. Cal it's almost mandatory to wear a coat, sweater, and tank during our colder seasons. You just never know what you'll be doing, and what the central air will be like inside the stores :) I had chosen items that are basic and that every girl must own some version of. The fringe handbag and the spiky bracelet are my favorites that I don't all ready own but will diffidently be keeping an eye out for.

Faux Sure

It's almost that time of year again. It doesn't matter where you live we all go through it. The chilly mornings, that make it tough to roll out of bed and lay your feet on the cold floor. Running to the thermostat or heater to turn it up so you can thaw out faster. How about when your cup of joe or tea is fogging up your car window just as fast as your breathe is? 

What is your go to coat of the season? Is it wool, leather, fur- real or faux? Is your savior layering knits? Mine this season as with past is a faux fur coat. I just love bundling up in something comfy yet stylish. A faux fur coat goes with everything from a regular tee and jeans to a glittery dress and heels. I am always on the hunt for a new one, but of course it has to be at a good price.

I must admit, that I do need these things, ha ha. I haven't bought a new swimsuit in 6 years or something like that. I've always like the 70's inspired ring details to a swimsuit. Honestly I was looking for something a little more retro inspired, a one piece. For the price I just couldn't pass this deal up.

I love these boots and I'm crossing my fingers that they fit like a dream. I can't wait to wear them with dresses, skirts, and even shorts. I just know I'll be wearing them out come Fall.

UO has an amazzziiinngg sale right now. I almost bought a high-low floral skirt, a leather clutch, and a denim bralette top for less then $50.00. I still might do that. With all this spending I hope that I land a job soon.

I know that it has been less then a week since I posted something I just purchased. Here's the deal, do you remember the two tops I bought at F21? The floral bustier and the peach wrap top? Well, they didn't fit. I don't know what's going on right now, but my hoo hoo's are bigger then they use to be. No, I'm not prego nor p.m.s.ing. Just carrying extra weight, because 1. I hate working out 2. I'm eating out more often 3. STRESS. Anyway, I decided to use my gift card right away and order something new.

If you did the math I had to pay a little more then what my return was. SMH, With two of the items being cardigans I know I'm not returning them. I'm pretty happy in starting my Fall shopping right now. The lace cardi reminds me of the bed jackets of the 20's. I actually have a vintage peach one that I hardly wear because I deemed it too precious. Instead of a leopard blouse I went with a skirt. I can wear it now with tanks and later with sweaters and tights. Oh wouldn't it look cute with a moto jacket? You've seen me swooning over this knit cardigan before. Since they carry it in 8 different colors and for the price they're going for it was a tough decision to make. I opted for the dark brown, it will look amazing next to greens, oranges, and berry colors that I'm planning on wearing. Did I need another clutch in my arsenal? Noooo, but I'm always struggling for something girly for the day with black accents. 

So there you have it, am I happy now? Ha Ha, happy with glee.

As if you couldn't tell :) I'm in the mood for Fall. I've had it up to here with the humidity. I'm longing for the start of cooler days when wearing anything knit is a uniform. I love the cardigan above for the sheerness of it, so that I may wear it now and then layered later this year. The details in the brick blouse is what got me. Wearing it now with a tank underneath and then layering it with a black long sleeve come fall of a mod look. Pleated skirts aren't going anywhere for awhile and it just might be the time I invest in one. The hemline is what sets this apart from all others. I can see myself wearing color tights underneath come Fall or tall boats.

I'm not sure I have a signature style. Looking at these items I can see I'm all around the board, from 50's pinup, to 20's glamour, 70's sufer, 80's vacay, to a more modern grey tunic. I have been really trying to give myself a monthly clothing allowance and really sticking to it. This is an accumulation of things I've purchased last month and this month. You are still able to buy these on the site, and to let you know the cami also comes in white and red and the tennis shoes come in 7 different colors. When I wear something in a post I'll start referencing my hauls. I tend to shop at places that I can get the most style for my money with out having to pay extra for alterations. For now, places like Forever21 are my go to on price and fit.
