Back to the weekly grind, well for most people. My weekend was well spent at home. I just wasn't feeling up to doing much. I know, it's so unlike me. Usually it's my Bf that is a home-body and I have to pry him away from the PS3 to see some sunshine.
Friday night I had my family over for some take out, and a movie. I welcome any break to step away from the kitchen. Having Thai food delivered is a dream. No dirty pots and pans with very little dishes to do after. I had chicken pad thai. Yes, I know that it isn't in the deep end of the wonderful dishes I could of had. I like what I like :)
This really isn't a photo I took. I just always forget to. By the time I'm served most of my meals I'm starving. My Bf is always trying something new and he ordered the duck curry. It looked very yummy, but I'm still not going to pass up pad thai for anything.
I'm not much of a drinker these days. I limit myself to wine and an occasional mojito. I'll take a drink because of what it taste like and not to get drunk. Our recent wine purchase has come from a Fresh and Easy store. As far as I know it's only located in So.Cal. To be honest we only picked up what we bought because of the label. With labels named PCH, and I<3 CA we couldn't pass them up. On the Fresh and Easy site they have descriptions of the notes and flavors of the wines they carry. I also picked up a Moscato by Wink. Friday night we shared the PCH, Pacific Coast Highway 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon.
I am now quoting for the back of the bottle, " A soft, fruity red with aromas of figs and black cherries, together with flavors of raspberries, plums, and a touch of spice." It was fruity, and lushly full. I have tried wines in varying price ranges and what I find that works for me is just trial and error. You never know what you might get- the year, vineyard, grapes used, blended or not, and a multitude of small details all contribute to the final taste of the wine. The particular bottle was a $9.00 purchase and I was very happy with it.
Trying to figure out what movie to watch is a nightmare at my house. My brother is a teenager and throws out the line," I don't care." all the time. When it comes down to it, of course he cares and he is the most opinionated of the bunch. We whittled down the selection to Layer Cake and Street Kings. Not the rolling comedies that I usually go for on a family night but I do love a crime thriller every now and then.
2004 Layer Cake with Daniel Craig and Sienna Miller, is a good one. With the numerous plot lines. It centers around a cocaine dealer that plans to retire. We all know how that goes, what ensues it stealing, murder, romance, and general mayhem.
Overall it was a wonderful night with good company. I just love being able to gather family and spend some time together.
Sounds like a lot of fun! Glad you enjoyed yourself! :)
ReplyDeleteSegments of Life- It was fun and pretty mellow. We didn't break out any board games this time. Usually that ends with a lot of laughs and a sore loser. Thanks for the comment :)
