LoopOTD: The Civil Wars
I've been browsing lps as of late. I figured it was about time I start to rebuild my record collection. I had inherited a couple of crates full from my pops and Adam brought some along with him when we moved in together.
This morning I stumbled across The Civil Wars. As quoted by their site, "They travel without a backup band, and on their first full-length album, Barton Hollow, the bare-bones live arrangements that fans hear on the road are fleshed out with just the barest of acoustic accoutrements. Each song is an intimate conversation, and no third wheels or dinner-party chatter are going to interrupt that gorgeous, haunting hush.".
I was simply amazed at how beautifully fulfilling their sound is. Maybe because I myself is am in a place where I'm finding peace and happiness in simplicity that this music speaks to me. Take a listen, it may speak to you too.

A Song to Dance To
Every time this commercial comes on I have to turn up the t.v. volume. I love this song. Don't ask me what the guy is singing about, it doesn't matter. It get's my serotonin pumping and makes me happy every time I hear it. It wasn't hard to "google" the song, it's "Jan Pahechan Ho", sung by Mohammed Rafi in 1966. Kudos to Heineken for choosing an awesome song to a memorable commercial.

Update
My goodness, where does the time go? Every week that passes by I find that my free time is very limited. It doesn't help that I'm a procrastinator at heart. My new house is coming along slowly but surely. The Bf is having a great time installing lights and fans inside and out. He's one of the lucky ones that finds enjoyment in his profession (electrician) working in and out of the home. During our time there we found that critters roam our property, from cottontails, jack rabbits, squirrels, chipmunks, quails and doves. With the little animals running around, we also saw a couple of predators this pass weekend, coyotes. The weekend before last we heard a group of them right up against our hillside. I just can't tell you enough how much I'm loving that I get to see animals more then my neighbors at times. O.k., that just sounded like I'm going to turn into a hermit or become an agoraphobic.
a close up of the quail
Since the house I haven't been buying anything new in clothing or shoes. I'm not sure if it's because I'm just interested in buying things for the house, or that I'm not finding anything cute in the stores or online. Maybe it's a bit of both. The Bf just asked me a couple of days ago what I wanted for my birthday that's coming up. To be honest, I haven't even thought about it. He is incline to buy me anything other then a new pair of shoes, handbag, or piece of clothing. So what does that leave me? He even asked me if I wanted something for the house, like a new microwave. When did we get to the stage in our relationship, when a microwave is a good idea for a birthday gift? Oh, his heart is in the right place. He did come up with a wonderful idea, now it's time to see if he'll follow through.
This afternoon I thought of you guys as a song came on the radio. Through out my day things pop up that I would love to share with you, my readers. It's all about carving out some time to write it up. So I leave you with the song that got me writing and sharing today. When this album came out I loved it to pieces. Time moves on and some times you forget about the little things that you loved and made you happy. Here is to remembering the little things.

Loop of the Day: Lana Del Rey
O.k., I'm crushing so hard on Lana Del Rey. I can't wait to own her LP. You heard me right. I think I'll be purchasing vinyl. The sound could only enrich her vocals. Besides her amazing voice, I'm luving her style. Epitome of bombshell via Brigitte Bardot.

Loop of the Day
I know that I haven't been doing many Loop of the Day post recently. I thought that maybe they can fill in the gap the days I have work. Well until I'm able to put up a OOTD.
I adore this video. I guess what they say is true, you can learn everything you need to know on the playground. Kids are funny in the way that they are hone down to the basic, mostly driven my emotions. That life experiences changes things, you learn what is proper in polite society. Physically beating up rivals is so not proper.
I wish you well today, hope you have a good one. I'll be seeing you later with an Outfit of the Day post.

Loop of the Day: Oh You Pretty Things
I woke up this morning with this song in my head. Have you ever found yourself loving the music your parents grew up with? Does it help bring back fond memories? We have such a strong emotional attachment to music. I think it starts with the moment we are aware of our own or our mother's heartbeat, it's comforting.
Today is Friday and I can't tell you how excited I am for this extended holiday weekend. For once I'm not making plans, and it feels really good. I like having the option of staying in bed all day, or taking an impromptu car drive somewhere. It doesn't matter what I do as long as I can spend some time with the love ones.
So, I wish you my reader a wonderful day and a fun filled weekend.

Loop of the Day: Want You Gone
I finished the Portal 2 game, YAY! I couldn't have been able to get through it without my brother's help. I can't tell you the hours, the frustration and the near tears that welled up in my eyes. So my conclusion is that I must own this game. With my brother starting school soon, what am I going to do all by my lonesome? O.k., don't answer that. I do have other productive things to do then spend all my time on video games- but this one is so much fun.
I hope that everyone has had a productive day and has also felt some kind of accomplishment :)

Loop of the Day #54
Good Morning Everyone! I'm in a Flaming Lips type of mood, that today will be so strange that everything planed will just fall into place. This song always puts me in a great mood as I find myself singing along and cheering for Yoshimi to win over the evil Pink Robots.
I will (Freudian slip) everyone a great day and I'll be catching up with you later with an Outfit of the Day.

Loop of the Day
This song is so unbelievably catchy. I find myself whistling this tune, or at least trying to every now and then. I don't care what people say, whistling on key is hard.
How is everyone's week coming along? It's been one of those weeks for me, that seem to go by so slowly and the weekend can't get here fast enough. I am looking forward to Friday and seeing the last Harry Potter film with my mom and brother. We were talking about this the other day. Those films speak to a whole generation that grew up with it. It will be something they will share with their kids. I'm not immune to the frenzy, I own all the films and waiting for the last one so I can start reading the novels. I know that you are suppose to do it the other way around, but I found that I don't want to be disappointed by the film's interpretation of the books. So I'll wait.
The Captain America film is out this Friday too. That will just have to wait till next week for me to catch it in the theaters. I think only now, technology is capable of bring super heroes to life in the most honest way honoring the comics in which they stem from.
O.k., guys and dolls. I wish you all a wondrous day and I'll be catching you on the flip side. Ha ha, who says that anymore?

Portal 2
Welcome to the Enrichment Center- Victims of Science
My brother and I have been spending at least a day a week playing Portal 2. I'm not one for first person games because I would categorize myself as uncoordinated. I tend to shy away from games like these because I have an inner ear problem where I can get dizzy watching fast movement on t.v., or 3D films on the big screen.
So how is it that I can play this and not feel sick? I don't have to move fast to dodge bullets, or roll around to avoid hand grenades. The premise of the game is problem solving through trials using portal devices.
Since we have been playing as a team which forces you to work together. Aaron and I both been elated at figuring out a trial and giving one another high fives. To totally yelling at one another arguing who's idea is better at solving the puzzle. I think that I've enjoyed this so much because it just doesn't have us staring at the t.v. in our own little worlds but have us interacting with one another as a team.
I'm not much of a gamer, but this one has my number. It's a good thing that I don't own this game just yet because the house has to be burning down around me to pry me away from it.

Magnetic, I think so...
Good Morning! Back to the daily grind and I'm looking forward to kicking this week in the a**. I'm up early and slightly delirious because I haven't consumed my coffee yet. I had a great weekend spending time with visiting friends, drinking Moscato, and playing RockBand to the wee hours of the morning. What comes after a night like that, why sleep of course. I think I spent the rest of my weekend in a state of walking sleep, because the hours felt like it flew by. Here's to hoping that the good feeling of being well rested and full of good times see me through the week.
O.k. guys and dolls. I wish you a wonderful start to your week, and the ability to kick a** in all you do.

Oh, I Like...
Good Morning! This song is diff getting me geared up for the day. One of the reasons for this blog was just to share images that I like- be it fashion, photography, music, or films. In this video Luciana is wearing one of my all time fave outfits: leathery leggings, deconstructed T, and a leopard jacket. If you want your clothes to say that you are a bad ass rocker chick that would be the uniform to wear. I should really do an Inspiration Board featuring Luciana. Her style is amazing and I think a huge part of it is the attitude that is portrayed.
Allllrigggghhhttt now. I wish you a great day and I'll be seeing you a bit later with an OOTD, crossing my fingers and toes that I'll get it done today. Love ya, muahhh.

Daylight
Good Morning! My Ipod is set on random and this song popped up. Oh, I forgot how much I love Matt & Kim. That day I had their song on a loop and I was singing at the top of my lungs from my car to the kitchen as I was preparing dinner.
I wish you all a great Tuesday and I hope your day is graced with wonders big and small.

Summer Audio
Weezer always reminds me of summer. I find their music to be the perfect audio background for some good times spent with family and friends. Here's to a little daydreaming to get us through to the weekend.

Around the World
Seriously had to share this video with you. It's one of my all time faves. What better way to show the different layers of a song then by visuals depicting them. I thought it was a genius move on the artist and director's part. I have been a huge fan of Daft Punk since the album Homework in '97. I was at the right age when you start to look for something to identify your generation. My best times happened when Daft Punk's music was playing in the background.
I hope that you enjoy the song/video and that it brings back happy memories for you too.
*FYI, check out Daft Punk's Discovery Album that serves as the soundtrack for Interstella 5555: The 5tory of the 5ecret 5tar 5ystem, an anime film.

Bigger Than Us
Good Morning! I hope that everyone will have a great day today. As for me I'm starting a list of all that I want to accomplish today. I use to make fun of my mom for always needing a list, now I find myself doing the same thing for everything. It really is just easier to do that, then to go back on something because you have forgotten.
I start my day with music, something is always playing in the background. Most of the time I get stuck on one song that gets played over and over again. This one for sure will be playing while I get ready for the day, following me from room to room. It will make it to my car and will be playing while I drive around taking care of errands. Growing up, my t.v. was always tuned in to music channels. I think music videos compile everything I love all in one- music, story, and visual aids. Maybe I'll start sharing my all time favorite music videos.
O.k., time for me to get going. There really is not a better feeling then accomplishing your goals no matter how small they may seem.

Inside Out
Good Morning! For some reason today feels like my Monday, I'm actually geared up and ready to start my day. I think it's because I have a plan of doing a video haul. This past weekend Adam and I met up w/some family in Ventura county. The boys had a gun show to go to and us ladies hit the local shops and mall. There really wasn't enough time to actually get to the historical sights that I wanted to see. Oh well, next visit.
I hope that your morning has started off well.

Anything, Anything
Good Morning Folks! I'm getting a late start to my day. I have been feeling a bit under the weather lately and I really think it's due to the lack of sleep. I function at my best when I have at least nine hours. Sounds like a lot, huh? Yesterday I received my new Laurell K. Hamilton novel and found myself reading it from cover to cover with out stopping.
I stayed up till 1 a.m. trying to finish it before I went to sleep, goes to show how obsessive I can be. Now I'm paying for it by waking up later then usual and being extremely lazy. I need to pick myself out of this funk because I have things to do and people to see. Seriously, I did noticed that my skin and metabolism was suffering from the lack of sleep. Sure that these are things that only I would notice, but I noticed them just the same. I need to get back on a good sleeping schedule because getting up with Adam at four in the morning is killing me. I find it hard to go to sleep at 8 at night to get my full nine hours. It just seems so early and makes the night go by too fast. It's just another thing to keep in mind, to take better care of myself.
Update of this past week on diet change and exercise. I've been trying to use my elliptical at least 3 times a week for an average of 30 minutes at a time. A friend of mine is hitting the local track and logging in miles every morning. It seems like something I'll join in on alternating days. I had meals at home with no fast food except for the McDonald's run last Friday. (shaking my fist at Ronald) Thanks for making me addicted again. I really did blow it at the park on Saturday. I had picnic food of ice tea, hotdog, burger, barbeque chicken, potato salad, ice cream sandwich and brownies. Sounds like a lot for a sitting, but I just had a couple of bites of Adam's burger and chicken. I'll indulge once a week so that I don't feel deprived. So far so good.
Have you noticed the lack of clothing posts? I have, how boring (yawn). I think most places are settling into the season and bringing nothing new to the table.
1. Florals
2. Tribal Print
3. Cut-off Denim Shorts
4. Crop Tees
5. Maxi Dresses and Skirts
6. Lace
7. Wedges
Am I missing anything? So to fill the gap I have been thrifting. Yesterday I picked up a handkerchief hemmed dress and a pair of bleached out jeggings. I will probably feature them in a post some time next week.
Sorry for being so lax on posting. I promised park pictures and that's what you'll get. Till then enjoy your morning and I'll be back later in the day.

Whirring
Good Morning! I hope that you had an excellent weekend. Mine, fun filled to the point of exhaustion. I went to Universal Studios Hollywood on Saturday and had a great time (photos to follow soon). I had so much fun in fact, that I was feeling crummy on Sunday. The high cost of eating food you normally don't, not drinking enough water, and going on rides when you know you suffer from motion sickness. It was worth it, ha ha.
Have a wonderful Monday :)
