Outfit of the Day: Holding On

I finally hemmed up the jumpsuit from H&M last week. I had the seamstress bring it up 3", and I still have to wear them with my 5" Danys. I find that most of their pants and dresses are not made for the 5'1" and under set. Then again I am bigger then the normal 4'11" girl. At H&M I'm a size 8, comfortably, with allowance for my hips and bust. So if I really want slacks or a dress I have to watch where the waist fits and how long everything is- if it's worth the time and money to fix it for myself.

I just couldn't pass this jumpsuit up. It fit like a dream through the shoulders, and waist. I love the graphic impression of blossoms and the flutter sleeves of course. I'm all for easy cleaning and since it's poly I can just throw it in the wash and wear.

Ha ha, I had to crop out some of my plants. I am so embarrassed, what is the opposite of having a green thumb? Rotten? Ha ha, I either water them too much or not enough. Thank goodness cacti can take my abuse.

This is not mine :) I found this flower still holding on to summer in my mom's courtyard. Last of the season, I just love the color.

Thanks for reading and I appreciate all the lovely comments you guys leave behind.

Outfit of the Day: Falling Skies

I should have been picking up my apartment today. Since starting my new job, even though it's part time I haven't found a routine yet. We are creatures of habit, some more than others ( pointing at myself). Things go to the wayside, namely my home. Adam and I are both Sagitarians. Meaning we leave things where we drop them, and that there is always something better and more important to do then clean/pick up.

What did I do all day? Why catch up on blogs, FB, and retail sites :) Of course I need background noise and had Blood+ playing on Netflix. I dedicated a whooping hour to picking up, ha ha. At least that's some progress.

What I'm wearing today is the result of picking up. It's been clean laundry and new purchases laying about. The black tank with the embroidered cut out was purchased a few months back. I really need to invest in similar tops. I tend to grab the same one week after week. The sweater is from F21 and I believe they still have it for less than $13.00. I can tell you right now that I'll be wearing it a lot along with the dark brown one I have. I've worn them with maxi dresses a la Olson twin and with jeans like today. The jeans you've seen before. They are LEVI'S bootcut and were thrifted at my local Salvation. I really didn't want to wear my new Missoni scarf just yet. I chose to wear it like a turban because it was wrinkled anyway. Ha ha, of course I haven't switched up my handbag yet (H&M).

Thanks for reading guys and dolls + for being so patient with my slow posting of outfits.

Outfit of the Day: Rolling With the Punches

Hidiho! So today is a day for the unexpected. You know what they say," Just roll with the punches.". I had a day to take care of my errands this week and it was blown to bits, after I got a call from work. Ha ha, why am I complaining? Going into work half day is a piece of cake.

Remember those leatherette shorts I bought last week? Seen here. They are sold by waist inches. I bought a couple of sizes too big. Booooo. Instead of exchanging it for a smaller size I bought something else. The quality of the shorts were really nice, and very real feeling. I think if they fitted like I wanted they would have looked awesome with a neck tie blouse, to an over size sweater. C'est la vie.

Anyhoo, I'll debut my new purchases in a couple of days. Today I wanted to wear something that came from a mix of stores. I know, huge surprise- huh? I'm pretty sure that you've seen the blouse and pants before, but not together.

Blouse- CottonOn

High Waisted Jeans- WetSeal

Feather Necklace- Forever21

Brown Leatherette Cross Body Bag- H&M

Outfit of the Day: Back Into the Swing of Things

Trying desperately to get back into the swing of things. Why would I feel so desperate, you ask?  The past few weeks have been harry around here. A visit from family and all that details. A week full of job interviews. The start of another school year. O.k. mind you that my brother is my brother, and I worry just like a mom. It must be the huge age gap between us (18 years).

I'm taking the moment to jump start a change of personal perspective. Why not, anyone can do it. It's time to be a woman of action, ha ha. Starting off to being newly committed to this blog. I do love it and like all things you love you can take it for granted. Does this sound like an echo of something I wrote a couple of months ago? Scratch that. Starting over remember?

Here is an outfit of the day post. I have been continuing to do light shopping here and there. One of my new purchases is this denim skirt from F21. I know, where else would I have purchased it from? The cotton floral blouse is from a local boutique quite a while ago. With a skirt this length, on me hits a little above my ankle. To balance out all this fabric I chose to wear my Danys. Open toed and tall it lengthens my legs.

- Green Floral Blouse: Local Boutique

- Denim Skirt: F21

- Jessica Simpson Danys: Zappos.com

Don't mind the angle, just trying to get use to the tripod again :)

Readers- Thank you for your continuous support and I really do appreciate all the lovely comments you leave behind. Have a wonderful day. - Albee

Outfit of the Day: Terra Form

Good afternoon! The plan for today is to make a batch of chocolate chip cookies. The weather has started to cool down with our coastal fog, so it's perfect for baking.

I received my packages of recent purchases in the post yesterday. The swimsuit is awesome. I was a little concerned about not having a neck tie with it, but it's snug enough that I wouldn't be flashing anyone. I also am happy with the back coverage of the bottom. I don't know about you, but seriously- I don't need to show so much cheek. You can see the swimsuit I purchased here.

The next package was my olive boots from GoJane.com. I opened the box this morning and they were exactly what I was expecting. They're super cute. Remember when I said that they can literally go with everything in my closet? They soooo can.

Today I'm wearing the new boots with a dress that I thrifted a couple months ago at my local" SallyAnn". The dress was stuck in the skirt section and as I pulled it out I thought the top portion was a little funny to be a skirt. I shrugged my shoulders and thought I can just wear it as a dress too. There is no label to the dress, and I really think it's handmade- the stitching doesn't look factory made. The belt is one of my favorites, I love the double buckle and cream crochet part. I think it's the one I grab the most for my maxi dresses, and plain rompers. This weeks hand bag, I'm sticking to the cotton fringe one from Karmaloop. I'm not one to change a bag to coordinate with my outfits. I go through phases. No accessories today, I've been rushing out the door and never seem to have the time to don on a bracelet, earrings, rings. I should try harder (sheepish smile).

With out further to do:

Seriously windy today, and I decided to just go with it.

A close up of my new favorite boot.

I Fall To Pieces

Early this morning I was in the mood for a little bit of old country and had my playlist to Patsy and Parton. It reflects in what I had chosen to wear today. I'm wearing my favorite v-neck tee from UO ages ago. It's now in the perfect stage of softness/sheerness. When this shirt first came out I was attending a Death Cab concert, I could have sworn I saw at least 4 chicks wearing it that night.

The flannel is actually the first one that I purchased that fits as a layering piece from F21. Funny story- I was out at a wine and beer festival and saw this rad chick. I was so jocking her look of a flannel over a tank and jeans. For some reason I fell in love with her easy look. I kept staring just trying to figure out why I couldn't look away. It dawned on me, it was the flannel. The silly thing of it was is that I all ready owned it.

The DIY rolled up cut-offs were a BF cast off. Nooooo, they were a pair of pants and then I cut them to shorts, ha ha. Lucky me his waist is the same as mine and they fit perfectly. The downside to the story- Now that I'm scoping the thrift stores for Levis, do I give him first pick?

The f21 shoes you've seen countless times, I'm going to be so bummed the day I have to retire them. The red cotton fringe handbag was a steal through Karmaloop, I only wish I bought the black one too. There you have it, my easy peesy outfit of the day.

Outfit of the Day: Lucky Lady in Leopard

So I had a job interview today. Totally landed the job and really excited about all the pluses. It's close to home, Monday thru Friday, and it's extra cash in the bank. I can now let loose and not stress about getting everything I want. I must sound like a spoiled brat. Since being out of work I have really curbed my personal spending. Living off of a quarter of what I use to make has been challenging. It has also help prioritize my life. That spending quality time with love ones, doing fun things is well worth the price of a new handbag.

Am I going to go back and set myself up for a major fashion fail (debt). Um no, I'm never going back to being that person that needs the hottest item no matter what the cost. I'm going to take the frugelness of thrifting, and remixing all of my existing clothing. O.k., I have to be honest- I will be able to afford something fab once in a while. It will mean so much more then just another fill in the blank. In doing so I can let my creativity run wild, and WERK it.

Today I wanted to wear my new leopard skirt to the interview. Since it is a department store job, I was able to get away with something more fashionable and not the predictable black suit.

I love the idea of black and brown together. This skirt just kicks ass. Have you noticed that leopard shines as a neutral? I will be able to wear it with a bevy of Fall colors, burgundy, hunter green, (agh) glittery silver. I wanted to keep it a little conservative and wore it with my open knit sweater and brown leatherette wooden wedge.

1. black open knit sweater, leopard skirt, over size cat sunnies- F21
2. brown wedge heels- Charlotte Russe
3. Juicy Zodiac pendent- Nordstrom
4. Kenneth Cole Reaction watch- Macys

Outfit of the Day: Picnic Wear

Summer vacay is almost done. I have my brother counting down the days till school starts back up. Boooo! So to soak up as much fun as possible and enjoy the beautiful mild weather we've been having we decided on a picnic at the park.

In the middle of summer the local mini botanical gardens were so dry. Of course the only thing that is thriving is the cactus garden.

You have seen this romper before, but the belt is new. I almost lost it at the grocery store earlier in the day. I had my brother tell me that I was undressing while in the check out line. Super embarrassed that my belt came undone.

We had a great time enjoying our lunch spread even though we were fighting a losing battle with intruders. Namely this guy.
I'm such a sucker and gave in. I had to throw some bread his way.

Of course I forgot to do something important and couldn't go home after lunch. To make a trip to the bank more enjoyable I went to the one near the beach. I saw the artist painting this mural about a month ago. It turned out really nice, it's so weird that you really can't see all the details off the street. I guess it's really for all the pedestrians cutting across the alleyway.

If you are ever down in Hermosa beach the mural is located off the pier avenue parking structure (north facing).

So my day is at an end. I shouldn't say that, it's the start of my evening.

Simple As It Gets

I hope that everyone had a great weekend. Mine was pretty relaxing as I spent most of the day watching t.v., from Nascar races, to silly movies on Netflix like The Evil Dead. If you haven't seen that film yet and you love gory old zombie movies, it's a cult classic. It isn't a film for the faint of heart if gushing blood and dismemberment bothers you. If it is the kind of film you would enjoy know that is the first of the three installments to the Evil Dead trilogy.

Back to today's happenings. It's another gorgeous day out here and I've finally taken to wearing shorts instead of jeans. Ha ha, I'm still in a tee though :)

I was taken with this fedora for the sheer simplicity of it. There are no bells and whistles, feathers, or ribbon. I was looking for something that I can easy change the look of it if I wished to. Today I had fastened one of my many floral pins to the brim. Looking at it now, I guess that I could have also attached a gingham ribbon around too. The sunnies you've seen before, my $10.00 pair of Vans from Karmaloop. The tee is a worn slub v-neck from F21 a year ago. The white shorts you've seen here and were purchased at OldNavy. The shoes are new and were a steal for less than $6.00 at F21 seen in this post here.

Aaron and I went to Cafe Rio for lunch and for the life of me I thought I didn't bring my little point and shoot. When you carry a handbag with a gazillion pockets, you will bypass one by mistake. It was my first time there and I wasn't disappointed. For what would cost a meal at MickieD's, I had a cheese enchilada, black beans, rice, side salad, and a Horchata. It was so yummy and we were there at the perfect time, before all the suits were out for lunch. Next visit there I will diffidently be taking pics of my food. My local Cafe Rio is located at

Feeling Like a Slub

The weather has been mild out here near the coast. I can survive the mid 70's as long as we have off shore breezes. I'm trying to get all my errands done in the beginning of the week, so that I can have a leisurely start to the weekend. Playing Portal 2 all afternoon, certainly doesn't help me accomplish that :) What I have successfully started doing is clearing out my closet. About time, right?

Now that I've made some room in my closet, I have been doing a little shopping here and there. I'm not sure if the collective haul videos are working for me or if it isn't better just to show what I purchase in an OOTD. What do you think?

Today was just a day at home and I wanted to wear something comfy, just not my pajamas. The open knit sweater and olive green slub shorts were both purchased at F21. I know that it must seem that I'm the poster child for them. What can I say, the clothes fit me well :) I think that I purchase my black Chuck's through Tilly's and I am looking for a black shoe to replace them soon. Any recommendations?

Here are a few photos of my in-laws pond that I was able to take over the weekend.

Peaches

I did it! I had my first Outfit of the Day photo taken for the week. I know I suck, but I always have the best intentions. You do what they say about intentions? Now that I have patted myself on my back, with out breaking an arm. How is everyone's week coming along? My brother and I went to have lunch off of Main Street, El Segundo yesterday. Silly me, I never put back my memory stick in my camera (sigh). That was yesterday and today is today. Here is what I'm wearing...

Blouse- CottonOn; Jeans- OldNavy; Wedges- SODA; Belt & Sunglasses- F21
If you are wondering what is behind my back, I have my car keys in my hand. Knowing myself, if I set them down I would loose them. That's what happens when you have worst short term memory ever.

Thanks for visiting me guys and dolls. I appreciate the support in following my blog and all the comments that you leave behind.

Ports O' Call and an OOTD

Went out on a little excursion today to San Pedro. It's basically a hop, skip, and a jump from home. Since the bro has been on summer vacay, we have been trying to catch up on all the local sites. Our next planned detour will be the Natural History Museum in downtown L.A.

Today we just walked around Ports O' Call and the Cabrillo Marine Aquarium.

I won't bombard you with all the pics in one shot. Today is a head to toe F21 outfit. I believe the skirt is still available through the site and also comes in gray.

Alright, guys and dolls- hope you are having a wonderful day.

Watercolor Florals

It's another gloriously warm day here. This little dress is the perfect thing to wear as I'm running around taking care of errands. Since Adam and I live in a rental that was built in the 50's we have become resourceful when it comes to keeping cool. We are now toying with the idea of a swamp cooler. As it is we are living with fans in every room at every open window. Some day I'll be living in central cooling :)

2. Pink Braided Belt- F21

Black and Gold

I did it! I committed to a new hair color. Well, I committed to new streaks in my hair. Take a look...

My outfit posts have been really casual as of late. I promise to get a dress on soon, ha ha. I have no idea what this pose is, I was just feeling really self conscience. There is just too many things going through my head when I have someone else taking pictures for me. I'm thinking about pulling my shoulders back and down, smiling not smiling, chin down-but not too much, is my hair in place, what am I doing with my legs? Now throw in someone taking the pictures and I wonder about placement and if they have to zoom in or not. Just call me a control freak :P I'm going back to using a stand tomorrow.

What I'm Wearing:
1. Large Cat-Eye Sunnies/ Dark Grey Crop Shirt- F21

2. White Tank- Target

3. Acid Wash Jeggings- Thrifted

4. Adidas High Tops- Alloy

I forgot how hard it is to get black hair to blond. I'm pretty happy with the streaks being a golden almost honey blond they are now. Eventually I think I want them to be platinum/white. While I was getting my hair done, Adam wanted me to go all around blond. It's just too hard on my locks and the upkeep can get pretty expensive. I'm back to using Clairol Shimmer Lights to keep it blond and less brassy, and The One n' Only Argan Oil to keep it soft and not dry + brittle.

Outfit of the Day: June Gloom

So, have my outfit posts getting more casual? Where I live, what we call "June Gloom" has set in. The morning starts out grey and foggy, then a couple of hours of sun before the fog rolls back in for the evening. When I use to work at a tanning salon this was the busiest month. People wanted to start a base tan so that they weren't pasty at the beach, and the out-of-towners would come in because they couldn't go back home with out a California golden tan. That is my tip of the day, if you are planning on visiting Ca. don't do it in the month of June. The weather is crummy.

Today's weather calls for a casual and comfortable. I totally stepped out of the house with out any jewelry. This would look cute with a long chain necklace, mix media bracelets, or even big statement earrings.

What I'm Wearing:

1. V-Neck Grey T-Shirt- Target

2. Skinny Cargo Pants & Pink Braided Belt- Forever21

3. Champagne Glitter Flats- Soda

4. Sunnies- Vans

Outfit of the Day: No I In Threesome

I have the theme song to Three's Company stuck in my head. O.k., I'm totally dating myself. I can't believe my mom let me watch that show. To be honest I was too young to know what the heck was going on anyway. So to bump out that song from replaying in my head I'm trying to think of the Interpol song "No I in Threesome".

As promised here is an outfit of the day. I know I've said that I would do one everyday but I got stuck wearing my new floral maxi for a few days. Today I'm wearing my floral shorts last seen here. It's finally feeling like spring and I'm getting a nice tan on one side of my body while I'm driving around in my car. Oh well, hopefully some time next week I can make time to hit the beach and start building my golden California tan.

Ha ha, another one of my head to toe F21 outfits. You can still purchase the shorts, belt, and necklace online.

Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend.

Outfit of the Day: Sneak Peek

I had to take a pic of my hair today to save the image for future reference at the hair salon. Ha ha, just having a good hair day. I'm picking up my brother today and I'm hoping he'll take some photos of my outfit for me. That way I can get you some outdoor shots.  I'm so loving this little owl pendent right now. I had a hard time on choosing this bronze one or the one in silver. I almost walked away with both. Thanks mom, in helping me decide which one. I survived a shopping experience with her recently. I figured out the key, eat before hand that way I'm not starving during.

I hope that everyone is having a great Friday.

Outfit of the Day: Golden

Here is the jumpsuit I purchased a couple of weeks ago. I'm so in love with it I want to wear it everyday. I keep looking at this photo and thinking something is off. I give it a B+, if that. I originally bought it to wear to the park this weekend, but I think I'm going to go with the tried and true, denim blue. Ha ha, I just realized that I have my rubber band around my wrist. This plastic handbag was purchased at my local H&M store, it's a throw back to the eighties.

When I was little I had one in a pearlized purple, pink, and white. Yeah you could have caught me wearing my pink Member's Only like jacket and sport a purse like this. I asked my mom what I use to carry in my purses. Stickers, a notebook, pencils, my Little Ponies and my pink Jordache wallet. Things haven't changed much, I'm only missing the Little Ponies these days and the wallet isn't Jordache anymore.

Outfit of the Day: Tie-Dye Me Up

I am so in love with this reverse tie-dye dress. I wear it at least twice a month and I can't believe it's taken me so long to show you guys. So sorry for the slanted pictures. I guess I was trying to create some drama, ha ha.

 What I'm Wearing:

1. Reverse Tie-Dye Maxi Dress- Ross

2. Leather Corset Belt- Forever21

3. Black Canvas Wood Heel Shoes- Soda

Outfit of the Day: Spring in My Step

 Happy Friday Everyone!

So today I felt like wearing something sweet and springy. Yes, I know they look like nursing shoes, but I think they are adorable.

 What I'm Wearing:

1. Denim Jacket- INC

2. Striped Tube Top- Ross

3. Blue Midi Skirt- Local Boutique

4. Leopard Pumps- Qupid

5. Glitter Wallet/Clutch- Forever21
