Oh, I Like...

Good Morning! This song is diff getting me geared up for the day. One of the reasons for this blog was just to share images that I like- be it fashion, photography, music, or films. In this video Luciana is wearing one of my all time fave outfits: leathery leggings, deconstructed T, and a leopard jacket. If you want your clothes to say that you are a bad ass rocker chick that would be the uniform to wear. I should really do an Inspiration Board featuring Luciana. Her style is amazing and I think a huge part of it is the attitude that is portrayed.

Allllrigggghhhttt now. I wish you a great day and I'll be seeing you a bit later with an OOTD, crossing my fingers and toes that I'll get it done today. Love ya, muahhh.

Daylight

Good Morning! My Ipod is set on random and this song popped up. Oh, I forgot how much I love Matt & Kim. That day I had their song on a loop and I was singing at the top of my lungs from my car to the kitchen as I was preparing dinner.

I wish you all a great Tuesday and I hope your day is graced with wonders big and small.

Orangesicle

I simply adore these shoes. It's the perfect shade of orange that reminds me of being little and chasing down the ice cream truck in the heat of a summer day. I can see myself wearing them with crisp whites and luscious nudes.

Summer Audio

Weezer always reminds me of summer. I find their music to be the perfect audio background for some good times spent with family and friends. Here's to a little daydreaming to get us through to the weekend.

Black and Gold

I did it! I committed to a new hair color. Well, I committed to new streaks in my hair. Take a look...

My outfit posts have been really casual as of late. I promise to get a dress on soon, ha ha. I have no idea what this pose is, I was just feeling really self conscience. There is just too many things going through my head when I have someone else taking pictures for me. I'm thinking about pulling my shoulders back and down, smiling not smiling, chin down-but not too much, is my hair in place, what am I doing with my legs? Now throw in someone taking the pictures and I wonder about placement and if they have to zoom in or not. Just call me a control freak :P I'm going back to using a stand tomorrow.

What I'm Wearing:
1. Large Cat-Eye Sunnies/ Dark Grey Crop Shirt- F21

2. White Tank- Target

3. Acid Wash Jeggings- Thrifted

4. Adidas High Tops- Alloy

I forgot how hard it is to get black hair to blond. I'm pretty happy with the streaks being a golden almost honey blond they are now. Eventually I think I want them to be platinum/white. While I was getting my hair done, Adam wanted me to go all around blond. It's just too hard on my locks and the upkeep can get pretty expensive. I'm back to using Clairol Shimmer Lights to keep it blond and less brassy, and The One n' Only Argan Oil to keep it soft and not dry + brittle.

Blond Inspiration

I have been having blond withdraws. Coloring and bleaching my hair since my early 20's, I have always gone back in forth between dark and light. I have enjoyed being different shades of brown to blond and almost everything in between. My favorite was blond with turquoise underneath.

Lately I have been on a hunt for something new. I know that I wanted to keep my hair on the longer side. There is just so much you are able to do with long hair. About a month ago I cut some sweeping fringe. It's just long enough to split them and part my hair down the center or I pull them back and do a little top pouf. Unsatisfied, I was looking for a change of color.

I know that I wanted something light again, but I really don't want to dye my whole head this time around. Now the question is what do I want. I pulled some photos for inspiration.

I find that peek-a-boo highlights just might be the way to go for me. I really love the sharp contrast of the light hair peeking through dark. Then again the ombre look is fun, trendy and oh so right now. Up keep will be easy peasy either way I choose to do my hair. Hum, let me sleep on it.

Around the World

Seriously had to share this video with you. It's one of my all time faves. What better way to show the different layers of a song then by visuals depicting them. I thought it was a genius move on the artist and director's part. I have been a huge fan of Daft Punk since the album Homework in '97. I was at the right age when you start to look for something to identify your generation. My best times happened when Daft Punk's music was playing in the background.

I hope that you enjoy the song/video and that it brings back happy memories for you too.

*FYI, check out Daft Punk's Discovery Album that serves as the soundtrack for Interstella 5555: The 5tory of the 5ecret 5tar 5ystem, an anime film.

Pick of the Day: F21 Mens

I don't normally look in the men section of anything. Adam has this thing...I will buy him something, he'll say he likes it and it sits in the closet for years, never worn. I told him that I prefer honesty, that way I can get my money back and buy something for myself. He is a t-shirt, jeans type of guy. I think he'll bust out a button down if we are going to a "special" dinner with friends. Since that happens every blue moon he maybe has a handful to choose from.

On a whim this morning I took a peek through the men section of F21.

Woven Plaid Shirt $18.90

I think Adam looks great in plaid and only wish that was the go to shirt for day to day. I have to settle for it to be his "dress shirts". I really like the orange in this shirt, it's a nice faded soft shade.

Liberty Justice Freedom Tee $15.90

This shirt is more because I like it than for something I would pick out for the Bf. One of my favorite things in the world is a soft grey t-shirt. Since Adam and I can share tees, I will personally wear this out for him :)

Pink Floyd Tee $16.90

The Bf usually wears dark color tees, during the warmer months he's scrambling for a light color one to wear. This shirt fits his criteria for the perfect summer t-shirt- short sleeve, white, and one of his fave bands on the front.

Iggy & The Stooges Tee $13.90

I wish that I saw this tee sooner. The only available size is a small right now. Who doesn't <3 Iggy & the Stooges, I'm kicking my own *ss right now.

These items are sitting in my cart and all I have to do is hit the little button. (Sigh) It's just tooo easy.

Laura Geller Baked Busher Review

I received this Baked Blush in the shade Honey Dipped through my Birchbox subscription service.
I wanted to share my thoughts on the product and the one way I used it today.

I am normally afraid of blushes and bronzers. My skin undertone is pink, so that every color that I use on my face gets really pink almost red on my face. I'm thinking it's also my natural ph that does it too. This product in the container looks very peachy gold and really light compared to the other shades offered. I was worried that it wouldn't show up on my darker skin, especially since I got some sun yesterday. As you can tell in the photos it gives me a noticeably warm glow that is peach with a golden highlight. I love the payoff of the color, and I didn't even use that much of it. I feel so lucky to get it in this month's box from Birchbox. When it's all used up and I know it will be (I'll probably use it everyday) I will diffidently be purchasing it.

Other shades offered:

Pink Grapefruit

Apricot Berry
.32oz ea. $29.50

June 2011 Birchbox Review

I have finally received my June 2011 Birchbox in the post yesterday. I have been anticipating getting my goodies ever since I signed up for the service last month. What made me pull the trigger was that I was loving all the reviews the service was getting and the quality and quantity of products that were in each previous months box.

For an automatic payment of $10.00 a month I thought it was a wonderful way to try products before purchasing them. Not only do you get your samples of products, you can purchase full size on the site. Accumulating points from each purchase to work toward future discounts.

This month's box does not disappoint in it's super cute packaging.

5 products in this month's box:

1. kate spade- Twirl
.05 FL OZ Spray

2. LAURA GELLER- Baked Blush N' Brighten in Honey Dipped
.32 OZ, Full Size

3. SIRCUIT Cosmeceuticals- Molecular Mist
8 ml.

4. WELEDA- Wild Rose Smoothing Facial Lotion
.17 FL OZ

5. Deborah Lippman- Stripper To Go Nail Lacquer Removers
2 Individual Mitts

I'm really excited to try the Baked Blush today and be able to do a little review for you. I have tried the Kate Spade Twirl perfume and upon first spray I thought it smelled like a powdery floral, now that it has settled it smells like a really soft, fresh rose. It really is lovely and it would be a wonder gift for myself and the mother's in my life. The Sircuit molecular mist is interesting in it's use as a pre-moisterizer, a refresher, or to set makeup. I was thinking about putting it into my fridge and using it when I need a refresher mid-day. The smoothing facial lotion by WELEDA will be something I will try before I hit the bed this evening. I've been looking for a light moisterizer for my face after cleansing since I can only use my night cream a few times a week. Deborah Lippman nail lacquer removers are handy little mitts, that will diffidently be going with me in my travel weekend bag. So I can honestly say that I'm really thrilled that I'm able to keep and use all the item in this box.

So is it worth the $10.00 a month for this service? Heck yeah!

Bigger Than Us

Good Morning! I hope that everyone will have a great day today. As for me I'm starting a list of all that I want to accomplish today. I use to make fun of my mom for always needing a list, now I find myself doing the same thing for everything. It really is just easier to do that, then to go back on something because you have forgotten.

I start my day with music, something is always playing in the background. Most of the time I get stuck on one song that gets played over and over again. This one for sure will be playing while I get ready for the day, following me from room to room. It will make it to my car and will be playing while I drive around taking care of errands. Growing up, my t.v. was always tuned in to music channels. I think music videos compile everything I love all in one- music, story, and visual aids. Maybe I'll start sharing my all time favorite music videos.

O.k., time for me to get going. There really is not a better feeling then accomplishing your goals no matter how small they may seem.

Ventura County Collective Haul

Here is my little mini haul of purchases I made during my visit to Ventura county this past Saturday. I had such a wonderful time exploring the little shops off of Main Street. My only regret is not having enough time to check out the historical sights, or hit the nature trails. It gives me a great excuse to visit again.

I had to show you this massive tree at the local park off of Main. I told Adam that he had to take a photo of me standing next to it so you can get scale. Hopefully I can get more city photos for you on my next trip.

Inside Out

Good Morning! For some reason today feels like my Monday, I'm actually geared up and ready to start my day. I think it's because I have a plan of doing a video haul. This past weekend Adam and I met up w/some family in Ventura county. The boys had a gun show to go to and us ladies hit the local shops and mall. There really wasn't enough time to actually get to the historical sights that I wanted to see. Oh well, next visit.

I hope that your morning has started off well.

Justin Roper Kiddie Boot

I was just browsing through Etsy this morning and came across this boot. I almost died, they are so "the thing to wear", that everyone would be guessing where you purchased them. They are made by the cowboy boot manufacturer Justin, and are the roper Kiddie boots. On Zappos.com they only have them in black for $104.00 sale, originally priced at $130.00.

Since I was looking through Etsy, sellers have them available in purple, burgundy, black, tan and brown. Prices range from the low 30's to the high 60's. I think they would look so cute with cut-off denim shorts, floral summer dresses and maxi skirts now. Come fall and winter, they would look awesome with skinny jeans, or even the leather shorts, and skirts that I'm predicting will be a huge trend.

Movie of the Week: Dude Where's My Car

This 2000, PG-13 film stars Ashton Kutcher and Seann William Scott as slackers that wake up one morning with no memory of the events of the night before which includes what happen to their car. Hilarity ensues as they try to piece together the night.

It's a buddy/comedy film that banks on juvenile humor. I watch this film when I need a pick me up or if I catch it on t.v. It's laugh out loud funny, and if my brother is with me we end up quoting the movie for a week.

So it's a good, silly, funny film to catch through your rental provider. Check it out!

Outfit of the Day: June Gloom

So, have my outfit posts getting more casual? Where I live, what we call "June Gloom" has set in. The morning starts out grey and foggy, then a couple of hours of sun before the fog rolls back in for the evening. When I use to work at a tanning salon this was the busiest month. People wanted to start a base tan so that they weren't pasty at the beach, and the out-of-towners would come in because they couldn't go back home with out a California golden tan. That is my tip of the day, if you are planning on visiting Ca. don't do it in the month of June. The weather is crummy.

Today's weather calls for a casual and comfortable. I totally stepped out of the house with out any jewelry. This would look cute with a long chain necklace, mix media bracelets, or even big statement earrings.

What I'm Wearing:

1. V-Neck Grey T-Shirt- Target

2. Skinny Cargo Pants & Pink Braided Belt- Forever21

3. Champagne Glitter Flats- Soda

4. Sunnies- Vans

Pick of the Day: Ear Cuffs

Forever21: Fashionista Ear Cuff  $3.80

Mod Cloth: Pretzel-a-Porter Ear Cuff $14.99

Etsy: RegalRose Gabriel Feather Ear Cuff $26.00

So another obsession, ear cuffs. With all the different styles and a wide price range, it's hard to chose just one. I think I'm really loving the gold spike ones for one I'm feeling a little "punk-ish" and the feathers to help feel more boho.

New Shoe Crush

So I've been dreaming about a pair of flats lately. I wasn't sure if I wanted a leopard print or cute glittery ones. I caved in and stopped by this local store today. Funny- I haven't been in that store in months, I would say almost a year now. The manager was in and totally remembered me and we chatted for awhile. That's when you know you're a shopaholic, when employees know you and do courtesy calls on upcoming sales.

They had the Soda Scout Flats in black and champagne. I was able to get mine for less than $12, at that price I should have nabbed the black ones too.

I love the idea of wearing these to dress up my normal jeans and t-shirt outfits.

You'll be able to pick up a pair through urbanog.com for $13.20 originally $15.20. The site has them available in champagne, silver and multiglitter.

Pick of the Day: Romper

CharlotteRusse.com Confetti Party Tube Romper $24.99

Everyone seems to be into the whole Ikat/tribal prints right now. For those of us who aren't (namely me) and want an alternative to the floral barrage this is a good one. I have been picking out small geometric shapes on rompers, tunics, and dresses.  This romper is perfect for a night out with a leather jacket, or day time wear with cute wedges.

A sneak peek at an Outfit of the Day:

A Sucessful Day: Universal Studios Hollywood

Last Saturday the family and  I headed out to Universal Studios Hollywood. It's about an hour drive from where I live. I guess when you live in Southern California everything is about an hour away. You can hit the beaches and drive to the mountain slopes or near by deserts in the same day.

My mom had her yearly company picnic there and this year we decided to take advantage of the discount entry price. As close as the park is, neither of us have been there in years. I think my mom mentioned that she hasn't been since the 70's, my last visit was in the late 90's. So yea, we were all over due.

Being someone who likes to fly at the seat of her pants, I found that making a few plans were necessary in this situation. Knowing when the park hours were, when lunch hours were, and what attractions we wanted to see the most was key to a successful day.

Adam and I when we first got there. We tried to sneak in a pic before the crowds got too overwhelming for a decent one. Look at the women in our shot, I'm loving her white maxi and hat.

The Bates Motel, from Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho.

Adam got a great photo of Jaws trying to gobble up tram passengers.

I couldn't stop laughing when this picture was taken. I tried to get my leg in his mouth, but I was too short to do it.

Remember when the Simpson's movie came out and they turned a few 7/11's into the Kwik Mart?  They had the gift store facade just like it. On the side is Bart tagging El Barto on the building.

From these photos you would think we were the only ones there. It was early morning and the lines were nil. My super plan worked, ha ha. The Mummy ride was a lot of fun, an indoor roller coaster with the speed, twists, and drops that you expect.

Walking back through Universal City Walk. It was the end of the day. We were all beat and sick of the crowds. Very successful day I do say so myself.

These are only a couple shots out of a couple hundred. Adam, the shutter bug. If you are planning a trip soon to Universal, take the time to make your day plans beforehand.

Here was my itinerary:

1. Locate the storage lockers.
It's worth tucking away the sweatshirt and other items you don't want to be lugging around all day. You are able to access it through out your stay at the park.

2. By pass the recommended itinerary from the park guide and map.
It had the park goers taking the tram ride first. The tram ride is 55 minutes long. If you have been sitting in a car that long just to get there, do you want to ride in a tram that long so soon after? Besides it'll be packed, there are a ton of people that follow the guide.

3. Make your way to the Simpson's Ride.
Along the way take photos of Jaws, movie cars, and other stand alone sights.
Posted sign of wait for the ride was 10 minutes. It was much less.

4. Head down to the lower lot.
There you will find the Mummy Ride, Jurassic Park, NBC Universal Experience. The experience is  a walk through of props, set designs, mechanical drawings, costumes of legendary films.
We were able to basically walk through the turnstiles and hop on the rides.

5. Grab lunch.
My mom's company had a section to themselves that opened at 11 a.m. We had enough time to walk through and enjoy what looked like a European street, the Coke Soak water works, and the hill side view of Malibu.

6. Take the tram ride.
Enjoy riding through the back lot of the studios and get up close to all the different movie sets. The King Kong 360 3D was amazing and worth the tram ride all it's own.

7. Time for shows.
When you enter the park they hand you a list of show times. Shows run all day and seating is first come basis, figure out the ones you don't want to miss. We caught the Special Effect Stage, that my brother wanted to see. It was entertainingly funny and informative. After that we checked out the Terminator 2: 3D.

8. Shopping.
It's a great closing for a perfect day. With packages in hand (don't forget the things you left in the locker) you can head out to the parking lot and off to home you go.
