Moroccan Oil vs. One n Only Argan Oil

VS.

Four years ago my hair was blonde and keeping it that way took a lot of effort with up keep. No matter what you do eventually your hair will become dry and damage looking. It was that way for me because my hair is naturally the darkest brown with out it being black. At the time I was searching for an oil, mask, a treatment of some kind to keep my hair soft and shiny looking.
I came across the Moroccan Oil brand in one of my fashion mags. I wanted to know what made it so special and why people were using it. So with a bit of research on the internet, thank you Wiki. It sounded like something I could be interested in to help solve my problem with out chopping off my hair. I had ordered it through Amazon.com because I didn't want to drive around to find it at a salon or beauty supply store. I can tell you that it worked in keeping my hair shiny, but if you weren't careful your hair can become an oil sleek. Another thing, having blonde hair I found that the product dulled the color. So now I wasn't just fighting the chlorine in my shower water but also the product I was using to make it look healthy. I felt that the product was my only salvation to keeping the blonde healthy and I just settled in and thought this was my best alternative. Now as you may know the brand Moroccan Oil is on the high side of the pricing spectrum. You don't have to use a lot, nor do you have to use it everyday.
Eventually I couldn't deal with the damage anymore and reverted back to my natural hair color. That takes time and more bottles of dye to ease the transition back to au natural. By the time it's back to normal I get bored and want to go blonde again. It's such a cycle for me and I've been doing it for the past 13 years.
My recent blonde days I was on a serious budget, but wanted to keep my hair healthy right from the get go. I was dreading the price tag of the Moroccan Oil so back to researching on the internet to find an alternative. I came up with the One n Only Argan Oil. Both products derive from the same source, the Argan nut. With it being a fourth of the price what could I lose in trying it? I applied it after washing my hair and before it dries, the same application I used in the other product. My hair was healthy and shiny w/o the oil sleek- it just dried better. You can over do it when you apply it to dry hair, but I kept it at the ends where I needed it the most. I still had the problem of keeping my color vibrate but that issue was solved in using Clariol Shimmer Lights Conditioning Shampoo (there is a generic out there that's just as good). That's a whole other process and I'll save that for another post.
All in all I was very happy with the result and thought it was a good alternative to Moroccan Oil. I told all my friends that process their hair and they love it too. The best part? I'm able to pick it up at my local supply store.
So if you are in love with Moroccan Oil there is an alternative out there. If you have yet to try products like these the One n Only Argan Oil is a good starting point. Who knows, you may love it so much and never leave it :)
