Outfit of the Day: Chambray and Florals

I recently purchased these shorts at my local F21. I've been looking for a pair of floral shorts that I can wear this coming s/s. With a check list of details: 1. high waisted 2. in a light weight cotton or rayon 3. under $20.00 4. primary color neutral. The moment I saw these I knew they had to be mine. I actually went to the dressing rooms to try them on. I pulled a size medium from the rack thinking that the waist would be prefect. Um, I was wrong. The shorts have a side zipper, so they had to fit just right. There are no belt loops or elastic for adjustments. The medium was too small for me, the waist size would have been fine, but it didn't have the lose drape that I wanted. I just could not, not have them so I purchased them in a large without trying them on at the store. Huge mistake. When I got home and put them on I was disappointed. The shorts were way to big in the waist, but had the drape I liked. I was determined to wear them so I made an adjustment and took the darts in the back up to the waist to bring it in. As you can see it works! Now that I have been on a mission to be swimsuit ready I know that I can adjust them again if need be.

The chambray shirt I'm wearing was purchased through Duluth trading co. It's where I buy all my hiking wear. The shirt is light weight, wicks away moisture and has breathing vents in the back. When you are out in the desert it's good to have sun protection. A light weight long sleeve shirt is the only way to go for me. It has been my absolute go to for several occasions as I pair it with everything.

The shoes you've seen before as they are my pink croc flats. You may deem them ugly, but they are the most comfortable flats I own. In fact I own three pairs of them in different colors. They have been the only thing that I ever purchased multiple pairs of.

  2. Thank you Loveoffashion22 <3 Knowing how to sew has come in handy. Being a person of short stature I've learn to hem pant lengths and take in waist sizes. It has saved me money on having a tailor do it.

  4. Thanks oomph :) Yep, I love chambray shirts. They only get better with wear. I also like using it as a cover up for my swimsuits. I didn't realize VS has one, what type of wash did you get?

  8. Claire- It must have been a denim shirt day. A collective conscience hard at work :)I think since it sprung up a couple of years ago, it's here to stay. My chambray shirt is the workhorse of my wardrobe.

  11. Ashley Rae- Thanks :) My elliptical is a new found bestie. with eating out, the occasional wine and desserts I realized that I needed to do something before my weight got out of hand. Crossing my fingers that this will be a life style change I can keep up with. Thanks for the comment.

  12. Ha! I just wore a chambray tied at the waist too. Great minds think alike. :) I also bought a pair of floral shorts at F21 but am going to have to lose the baby weight if I'm going to debut them this summer.

  13. Jenn- when I saw your post, I thought it was funny too :)For some reason there were a lot of bloggers that wore their chambray shirt on that day. I just loved how you wore it with your high waisted pants. + you inspired me to take out and wear my red seed bead earrings. Thanks for stopping by and checking out my blog.
